The Great Sphinx of Giza

The Great Sphinx of Giza

The Great Sphinx dates back to the Old Kingdom, around 2500 B.C., and is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. Carved from limestone, it combines a human head and a lion's body, symbolizing wisdom and strength. The statue is located at the Giza Plateau, near the Great Pyramids. According to the Dream Stele of Thutmose IV, the king received a divine vision to clear the sand around the Sphinx. The Sphinx remains a timeless symbol of ancient Egyptian grandeur and mystery.
