Khnoumhotep II
The statue of Khnoumhotep II dates back to the 12th Dynasty (around 1900 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom, a period marked by stability and cultural prosperity. Khnoumhotep was a local governor of the Beni Hasan province south of Cairo, playing an important role in regional administration and supporting state authority. The statue was found in his tomb at Beni Hasan, where inscriptions and decorations highlight his status, with artwork depicting his daily life. The tomb is one of the prominent Middle Kingdom sites, providing insights into ancient Egyptian art, especially in scenes of hunting and agriculture.
