| The statue of Rai Heteph and Nefert |
The statue of Rai Heteph and Nefert dates back to the Fourth Dynasty (around 2600 B.C.) and was discovered in Rai Heteph's tomb in the Meidum area. Rai Heteph is believed to be the son of King Sneferu, which adds historical significance to the statue. It depicts the couple sitting side by side with realistic features and intricate details, and its original colors remain vibrant, with Rai Heteph shown with dark skin and Nefert with lighter skin. The statue is currently displayed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and is considered one of the finest examples of sculptural skill from the Old Kingdom, reflecting the social life of the elite class during that period.
