The Small Sphinx of Horemheb dates back to the late 18th Dynasty (around 1300 BCE). It depicts King Horemheb with a lion's body and a human head, symbolizing royal strength and protection. The statue is made of limestone and is believed to have originally been placed in a temple in Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt at the time. The statue represents Horemheb's role as the protector of Egypt and restorer of order after a period of religious and political turmoil. Its current location is the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. One story suggests the statue was placed in Memphis to remind the people of royal authority during the country's reunification.
