The Merit-Ra statue dates back to the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom (around 1300 BCE) and depicts Merit-Ra, the wife of Pharaoh Ramses II and daughter of Pharaoh Seti I. The statue is made of red granite and shows her seated in a dignified pose, with intricate details of her face and royal attire.The statue symbolizes her royal status and lineage, reflecting the power and respect given to queens and princesses during this period. It was discovered in the temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. Today, the statue is displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It is believed that Merit-Ra played a significant role in politics and religion during her husband's reign.
